LubbockPRIDE Condemns Executive Orders Targeting the LGBTQ+ Community
LUBBOCK, TEXAS. LubbockPRIDE strongly condemns President Trump’s actions in office targeting the LGBTQ+ community, communities of color, and anyone living with HIV. The Trump administration is targeting, among others: transgender and intersex people, access to public facilities, school programs, and medically recommended health care; anti-bias programming and protections in the workplace; and accurate identity documents. These executive orders will invite exclusion and harassment, giving full permission for discrimination in many aspects of life. We also condemn the elimination of DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) programs and offices at the federal level. These programs serve to promote fairness and inclusion for LGBTQ+ individuals and other marginalized groups.
We want to assure our local community that LubbockPRIDE remains steadfast in our commitment to providing safe spaces for connection, hosting events centered on inclusion, and supporting our local LGBTQ+ family. Please know that we will continue to closely monitor the upcoming legal challenges to these and future executive orders and are here to offer guidance, resources, and unwavering support to anyone who needs it.
We invite you to join our monthly Trans Support Group, held on the first Sunday of every month, and to participate in our events. These spaces are designed to foster safety, inclusion, and a sense of belonging for all. Together we will continue to advocate for equity, celebrate diversity, and empower one another to face these challenges with resilience. We are not going anywhere.
